Notes from the Owner
I recommend my room if you enjoy the feel of the bass every bit as much as the sound of it. Having subs in all corners of the room plus the nearfield sub in the middle of the room allows for smooth and similar bass throughout the room. The extremely efficient left, right, and center speakers allow for smooth yet dynamic sound at all volume levels without ever sounding harsh. Dialog is crystal clear from the center channel. The surround speakers are great at not sounding pinpoint or blasting your ears if you are closer to them.
I also recommend my room if you like a large screen with great contrast due to large amount of velvet. Having velvet go all the way out to your peripheral vision on both the ceiling and walls combined with the JVC NZ-500 creates a fantastic image that is very addicting.
I like having a variety of seating, with home theater chairs in the front row and a comfortable couch in the back row. It worked out well to get a custom size cushion that sits on top of the nearfield sub for legs/feet in the back row, because it gives a nice tactile feel that keeps up with the tactile feel in the couch itself.
In past MWAVE VIP tours I have shown guests the difference between the feel of a nearfield 24 inch sub, a hovereze (platform under the seats with drivers in it), and a hezeback (driver built into the back of the chair itself).
I have received a lot of positive feedback from former guests for doing that demonstration so I plan on doing that again. I also like to demo different levels of bass and tactile bass feel since some people like moderate feel, some like absolute craziness, and others somewhere in between.

What enthusiasts are saying
I went to this event last year and found it more useful to the typical HT enthusiast than something like CEDIA, which is aimed more at the trade than end users. I participated in a couple of blind listening tests which really opened my eyes (ears?) on how difficult it can be to distinguish between well designed products. Just got a new Tesla and this looks like a good excuse for a long road trip. Also, KC has some great BBQ.
I thought MWAVE 2024 was great. My wife and kid enjoyed it as much as I did. I didn’t expect that. Thanks for organizing and putting it on.
You hear about Dolby Atmos, you hear about bass transducers, you see things like madVR, but to experience it is a whole ’nother thing.
I had a great time at MWAVE! It is an incredible event appropriate for enthusiasts of Home Theater!
MWAVE is not just an AV experience; it’s a pursuit to build a connected community of like-minded enthusiasts.
